Frequently Asked Questions

Healthcare shouldn’t be intimidating

I know you may have questions before starting physical therapy. Below are some of the most common questions my patients ask.

General FAQs

What is physical therapy?

Physical therapy helps restore movement, improve strength, and reduce pain through guided exercises, hands-on techniques, and education. My goal is to help you return to the activities you enjoy and prevent future injuries. I offer 60-minute one-on-one treatments with every patient.

In most cases, you can see a physical therapist without a referral thanks to Direct Access. However, some insurance plans may still require a doctor’s order. Medicare requires you to have a referral to bill through Medicare. I’ll help you determine what’s needed for your situation.

I treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, joint injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, balance issues, arthritis, and more. I specialize in Women’s Health, focusing on conditions of the pelvic region including incontinence, prolapse, and more. I am also able to treat many pre- and post-natal conditions.

Appointments & Scheduling FAQs

How do I make an appointment?

As I see patients by appointment only, it is best to call the office to make an appointment. I will be happy to find a time that works best for you. In most cases, I can get you seen within 24 hours.

Your first visit includes an evaluation, where I will discuss your health history, assess your movement, and create a personalized treatment plan.  I do my very best to create an environment that allows you to feel comfortable. You may also start treatment the same day.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. If we’re treating a specific area (like your knee or shoulder), it’s best to wear or bring clothes that allow access to that area.

Most sessions last 60 minutes, depending on your treatment plan and needs.

The number of visits depends on your condition, goals, and progress. Your therapist will review this with you on your first visit.  Often, you will need fewer visits as each session is maximized with individualized treatment.

Insurance & Payment FAQs

Do you accept my insurance?

At this time, I accept Medicare and Aetna insurance. I am hoping to add more insurance coverage in the near future.

We offer affordable self-pay rates and flexible payment options. Contact me for details.

Treatment & Care FAQs

Will physical therapy hurt?

Some exercises may cause temporary soreness as your body heals and strengthens, but therapy should not cause sharp or severe pain. I will always work within your tolerance level.

In most cases, you should feel better following each treatment.  Many patients notice improvement within a few sessions, while others may take longer depending on the condition. Consistency with both in-clinic sessions and your home program will speed up progress.

Yes! I believe recovery continues outside the clinic. I will create a customized exercise plan for you to follow at home.  I use videos to accompany every exercise that is posted into your online patient portal.
